Let me tell you a little bit about Buds & Bows Floral Design. We are a local, family owned,
floral boutique. Mary Lou is the designer, and
the heart of the shop. She was formally trained at a floral design school in
the eighties. She worked under an amazing florist in Poughkeepsie, NY for many,
many years. As life happened, like it does, she was forced away from the art of
design, and into another profession. Although, she never lost her eye for
flowers. I remember as a kid watching her place every flower, in every
arrangement, with love, and she still does. She takes her work very seriously!
Did I even mention that she is my mother? Well, she is. And she is awesome! You
don't have to believe me, just check out our reviews on pages such as Yelp, Google, and FaceBook.
Over the years, even when she wasn't designing professionally, she has still made many, many arrangements as gifts to friends and for friends as gifts for them to give. She has always loved it, so any excuse to design something, she would! For example, at my surprise baby shower, she had the cutest blue and white centerpiece, with pacifiers, rattles, and other baby stuff actually in the arrangement. So cute!!
In December of 2014, she and my Dad decided to open a flower shop. It didn't take long before they came across a kiosk for rent in Downtown Melbourne. When I thought of a kiosk, this was not what I had in mind. It had the look of a quaint grass hut. Just adorable. In February 2015, with help from her family, and friends, Buds & Bows was established. We opened the kiosk location a few days before Valentine's Day. This is a great time to mention how lovely the people of Downtown Melbourne are. If you have never been, I urge you to check it out. Do some shopping, grab a bite to eat, stop by and see our friends inside the Railroad Emporium, which is between OFF The TRAXX, Olé Fire Grill (formerly Zushi Asia), and Continental Flambé, across from The Firehouse Restaurant & Lounge.
Since then, she has created some of the most amazing and one of a kind designs. Some were by special request, and some were just because she likes to experiment and try new things with flowers. The NEW store is only 3 miles north on US Highway 1, on the NW corner of US 1 and Eau Gallie Boulevard. Actual address is 1365-A Cypress Ave, Melbourne, FL. It is where K Shoe Repair used to be-luckily for us, they moved 2 doors down into a bigger location. It is exciting to have an actual store, and room to work. We miss all of the nice people and local businesses that makes downtown so special, but we love our new store.
